The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is a private research university in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Founded in 1861 in response to the increasing industrialisation of the United States, MIT adopted a European polytechnic university model and stressed laboratory instruction in applied science and engineering.
It has since played a key role in the development of many aspects of modern science, engineering, mathematics, and technology and is widely known for its innovation and academic strength, making it one of the most prestigious institutions of higher education in the world.
Index reported that the MIT Catalyst program of the university has been attracting PhD students for seven years and aims to create breakthrough health investments and scientific research projects. The project is led by instructors from the industrial, health, and higher education areas and would like to satisfy the needs and demands of clinics all across the world.

Currently, within the program, eighty-eight research teams work constantly in thirty-three different institutions, and sixteen inventions have been sold so far to investors.Â
The program kicks off in Europe in 2020 in three cities: Madrid, Erlangen, and Debrecen. The Hungarian city will become one of the main centres of MIT in Europe, and its task would be to make the brand popular on the continent and to help scientific research with every possible method. The decision of where to start the first European project was influenced by the fact that Hungary already had connections with MIT.Â
László Palkovics, the minister of the Ministry of Innovation and Technology, travels to MIT’s centre in Boston in April to negotiate further details and to hold professional presentations for the public.Â
